Christchurch District Energy Scheme (CDEC)
Pioneer Energy's joint venture company, Christchurch District Energy Company (CDEC) has an agreement with Ngāi Tahu Property Limited to provide centralised heating and cooling system utilising the natural aquifer in a major development in central Christchurch.
CDEC is the joint venture company formed by Pioneer and Engie (formally Cofely Australia Pty Ltd) to build, acquire, own and operate assets for the supply of thermal energy.
Ngāi Tahu Property has a major development located in central Christchurch and were quick to see the long-term benefits of such a high quality, efficient and cost effective energy supply solution that also supports their sustainable development vision for the site. The initial stage of the development includes two commercial office buildings, a multi-storey car park, and a large landscaped public space, with the full master plan including the future addition of two smaller office buildings and high quality residential apartments.
